In addition to my 'Unseen' exhibition touring up to Cairns, I was also lucky enough to have been asked to undertake a 4 week residency here at the Tanks Art Centre to coincide with the exhibition.  During this time I am creatively exploring the work of Dr Sandra Abell which investigates the decline of the Northern bettong.  With a particular focus on the Bettong's unique diet of truffle fungi and the ecological implications of species loss, I will explore the Cairns Botanic Gardens living collection as well as visit the Australian Tropical Herbarium; using this research and process to inspire the development of a series of mixed media works.

    Residency Update
I have had visits to the Zoo, Australian Tropical Herbarium and been out in the field with Dr Sandra Abell to learn more about the endangered Northern bettong. So now its onto the concept development stage - just getting my head around some of the key features of the Bettong and some of its habits!  He is a pretty cute little guy....Thinking these works will be soft sculpture of some kind at this stage....
